Citizen Encounters is a piece constructed from a mesh of textiles, where each fabric represents a way of life and each knot functions as a point of union and encounter with the other. The weave stretches, knots, and generates its own language, accompanying our shared passage through the world.

The work culminates in a participatory action titled The Un-tying, in which the audience directly intervenes in the piece. The knots are undone and untied collectively, allowing social relations to flow through play and contact.

With the same playful spirit, I present a parallel action based on mathematical knots made of cookies. In knot theory, these cannot be broken; however, being made of an edible material, they can be bitten, fragmented, and joined to other knots. In this way, the game challenges mathematical laws and proposes new forms of connection, transformation, and encounter.

The project reflects on the importance of creating and sustaining bonds, but also on the need to know how to let them go. Tying and untying are proposed as complementary gestures that allow us to rethink relationships, community, and care for oneself and for others.
