Inundación
“Inundación” (Flood) is a series that explores the moment when painting ceases to be surface and becomes matter. As it detaches from its support, painting abandons its representational condition and manifests as presence: a body that occupies space.
In its liquid state, the paint expands, covers, and moves. However, it is in its transition toward solidity that it acquires corporeality: upon coming into contact with air, it becomes volume, weight, and permanence.
Painting no longer functions as image, but as a skin that sustains itself. In this shift, the work does not represent, but presents itself as real matter that insists on existing beyond the support.
